About Brenda
Reaching out for therapy can feel intimidating. Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to begin. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself even if you don’t have the words yet.

I’m Brenda Montgomery-Telfor, LMFT, a compassionate and culturally responsive therapist who helps individuals and couples navigate life transitions, grief, anxiety, and relationship challenges. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and the Gottman Method for couples, and I also offer faith-based counseling for clients who wish to incorporate Christian spirituality into their healing.

My approach balances practical tools with genuine compassion. I meet clients where they are and walk alongside them toward clarity, confidence, and emotional healing.

We’ll talk about what brought you here, what’s been weighing on you, and what you hope might feel different.
My role is to listen, understand, and help you begin to feel relief, not to judge or pressure you.

All sessions are conducted through a secure HIPAA-compliant video platform, and are easy to access from your phone, tablet, or computer. This allows you to attend therapy from the privacy and comfort of your home. Many clients find this makes it easier to open up and fit support into their real life.

Fees & Insurance
I offer both insurance-based therapy and private-pay therapy options.

Insurance-Based Sessions
I am currently in network with several insurance plans through my partnership with Grow Therapy. If you would like to use your insurance benefits, we can determine eligibility and schedule your sessions through the Grow Therapy platform.
​
I am also in the credentialing process to accept Alameda Alliance for eligible California residents (coming soon).
​​
Private-Pay (Out-of-Network) Sessions
Clients may also choose to work with me directly through Grace, Empowerment & Growth Therapy. Private-pay sessions allow for greater flexibility, privacy, and individualized care without restrictions from insurance companies regarding diagnosis, treatment planning, or session frequency.

I can provide a superbill upon request, which you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan.

Secure credit or debit card payments are processed through my HIPAA-compliant client portal.

Good Faith Estimate (No Surprises Act)
Under federal law, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining the expected cost of services if you are paying privately. You may request this estimate at any time before or during treatment.
